The Galapagos Plan

So here's the deal:
We leave today (Weds Feb 5th) and return Weds Feb 19th.

First we go to Quito (UIO) which is the capital of Ecuador. We will spend two nights there before flying to an airport (GPS) on the island of Baltra. From there we will bus & ferry & taxi to the town of Puerto Ayora on the island of Santa Cruz. We will spend a day there checking out the town and some local beaches.

Next we ferry to Puerto Villamil on the Island of Isabela to spend two nights. We have a hiking tour scheduled where we will walk around the rim of a volcano crater. We also have a snorkeling tour planned where we will hopefully see sea lions, sting rays, and penguins!! There is a lagoon near town where flamingos hang out so we hope to see those too (and get lots of pictures of flamingos for Dave's mom who loves them too).

After that we ferry back to Puerto Ayora where will join up with the crew and other passengers for a 8 day sailboat ride on The Beagle. We're super excited!

While we are on the sailboat, we will not have access to wifi so expect a few delays in our posts.

What does it take to travel to the Galápagos?  Here is our luggage for the trip.  Also, here is a map of our sailboat itinerary (we are traveling on the blue South & Central route).

Adios for now!!
